International Volunteering for Teachers.
Give a couple of weeks of your Easter or Summer holidays to change the lives of thousands of children in Sierra Leone or Liberia.
Travel to some of the most remote parts of Sierra Leone and Liberia, and discover beautiful West Africa whilst you gain international professional development experience and make a difference to thousands of children in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
If you want to extend your trip we can help organise a beach extension, giving you an opportunity to relax on some of Sierra Leone or Liberia's most beautiful palm-fringed beaches.
What You Will Be Doing.
The two week programme will support Street Child's work improving education quality in Sierra Leone and Liberia. You could either be working alongside our teaching specialists to help local teachers to build classroom confidence and engage students in the classroom, or working with students themselves to improve their numeracy and literacy skills.
You'll have the chance to visit rural schools and see the impact of Street Child's work on some of the most vulnerable children. Come back inspired with stories to share with your class.
On your trip you will stay in local communities and get to know the country and its famously welcoming people first-hand. You will be part of a group of teachers travelling together to explore West Africa.
Street Child helps the poorest children in Africa and South East Asia to go to school. In some of the most remote areas of Sierra Leone and Liberia children often miss out on the opportunity to gain even the most basic literacy and numeracy skills. Our rural schools work focuses on providing access to education for hundreds of children by building schools and training teachers. Since 2010 Street Child has created access to education for over 17,000 children in rural communities across Sierra Leone and trained over 400 teachers. Joining Street Child on the volunteer programme is a chance for you to contribute and make a difference to this vital work.

We ask all volunteers to commit to a minimum fundraising target of £1,000. Your fundraising supports the long term sustainability of your volunteering and our work helping children to go to school and learn. This work is only possible thanks to fundraising.
Furthermore, your fundraising helps raise awareness of our work and the country you will be volunteering in. It may even inspire more people to get involved with Street Child, either through volunteering themselves or attending our events. While fundraising may seem daunting, we will be there to support you with help and ideas - we are confident you will find it easier than you first imagine!
